The Whistleblower

An act of extortion was exposed. A high crime of Presidential corruption. A quid pro quo was the charges. It was introduced to a circus. A formal proceeding of facts that should have been met with reasonable understanding of whether a high crime has been committed. Instead, the reaction was more concerned about exposing the whistleblower. The corruption of exposing the whistleblower almost reached the height of the crime they were there for. Their reaction to these crimes was like children in the principal’s office. Not acknowledging the importance of the crime. Just the reaction of who snitched – who is the whistleblower? Even the ones who claim to be libertarian – the ridiculousness of a libertarian demanding government overreach to expose the whistleblower should be questioning more than his values – he deserves to know he’s a moron.

Even corporations have ethical standards for protecting whistleblowers, and our government without question should have protective standards beyond reproach. Our government should hold the higher standard. It protects us from corporate greed. It makes sure our water is safe for drinking and bathing. Our infrastructure – safe roads and bridges. And all the departments created for our safety.

Holding these ideals inside me, I could not help but to feel a sadness for the whistleblower – how alone and scared he must have felt. My hope was that the courage it took to stand up for the oath he swore to the Constitution and protect the standards of our way of life helped him to get through the scary place he was in. The circus better known as the Republican Congress. It’s funny – intellectual critics have called the Republican Congress a cult – I guess this is one of the many incidents that proves their point.
